Before we get into this week’s update, we have to mention that we weren’t originally planning to donate to a local animal shelter until we found an opportunity we simply couldn’t pass up.
After scrolling through Facebook Marketplace looking for anything that could help shelter dogs, we came across a massive dog bed that someone was giving away for free. Immediately, we knew exactly what we could do with it. After a brief conversation with the seller, we went to pick up the dog bed that very same day.
It wasn’t quite as clean as the pictures made it out to be, but it was absolutely something that could be salvaged, especially for a dog that may currently be sleeping on hard shelter floors.
We brought the bed straight back to our house and began the cleaning process. First, we removed all of the covers and vacuumed them thoroughly, making sure to get as much hair off as possible before placing everything into the washer and dryer. After a full deep clean, the bed looked completely refreshed and ready for a dog in need.
The final step was delivering this giant dog bed to Sweet Paws Rescue in Haverhill, Massachusetts, where a pup that truly needs extra comfort can now enjoy a softer place to rest.
At Dogwood Pack, we are always trying to make the most of every opportunity to give back no matter how small it may seem. When we see a chance to help rescue dogs and support animal shelters, we believe it’s something we have to take. Because at the end of the day, even one comfortable place to sleep can make a life-changing difference for a shelter dog.
