Crazy What a Little Love Can Do- The Story of Lou the German Shepard

Crazy What a Little Love Can Do- The Story of Lou the German Shepard

Over the course of these last 6 months, we have designed plenty of blankets for dogsand cats around the United States, but one in particular makes us realize why we are doing this more than anything. About a month ago, one of our biggest supporters and friends, @katesdogpack, reached out about a malnourished German Shepherd named Lou that was currently in a foster home while he recovers. When Lou was rescued, he weighed in at a whopping 32 pounds with most of his fur missing when the rescue took him in. When Kate showed us the pictures and told us the story of Lou, we were immediately blown away by how horrible this pup looked when he arrived. We were so thankful that Pawsitive Tails Rescue in Kansas City was able to take a chance on this pup and provide him with all the care he needed to blossom into the dog he is today. While the road to recovery is not complete just yet, Lou is doing much better than he was when he arrived!

Because of how little fur Lou had left at the time, staying warm was one of the biggest challenges in his recovery. Even simple things like resting comfortably or settling in after a long day could be tough when your body can’t regulate temperature the way it should. When Kate mentioned that she wanted a custom blanket for Lou, we were so happy to help! Seeing the pictures of him with his blanket makes us so incredibly happy that we were able to provide warmth for him while he continues to recover.

Knowing that something we created could give him even a bit of comfort while he continues to gain weight and strength honestly means everything to us. These are the moments that remind us this isn’t just about making blankets for pets, it’s about helping dogs like Lou feel safe, loved, and cared for when they need it most.

Seeing Lou now compared to where he started is nothing short of incredible, and we are beyond grateful to be even a small part of his journey. We can’t wait to continue following his recovery and share more updates as he keeps growing stronger every day. If anyone wants to follow along with Lou’s journey and his recovery, check out @alldogsgetahome on Tiktok! There, you will find some heartwarming videos of Lou in his signature pjs as well as some of the initial videos when they first rescued him.

I am crying reading this!!! Lou is my foster and he is the the most perfect boy. The blanket was amazing. Thank you so much for capturing his silly side even when he looked so miserable. He is the sweetest boy ever and I am so grateful to you.

Oh sweet Lou! Thanks for sharing his story. He is SO BRAVE! Can’t wait until he gets his next blanket when he’s fully healed.
